Kenneth L. Broadhurst: President and Chief Executive Officer, Director
Mr. Broadhurst has been involved in international and domestic oil and gas exploration and development activities for the past 27 years. Mr. Broadhurst has held senior executive positions with several successful public and private oil and gas companies involved in domestic and international operations including Discovery West Corp. as Vice President Land and Acquisitions and Saddle Oil & Gas Ltd. as Senior Vice President. Since 2000 Mr. Broadhurst has been active as a founder and President of several successful private oil and gas ventures including Cogs Energy Inc., Era Oil & Gas Corp. and Egypt Production Interest Corp. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Avid Oil & Gas Ltd. and Revolution Energy Inc. and is currently a Director of Revolve Energy Ltd.
Dwayne H. Warkentin: Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Director
Mr. Warkentin is an experienced petroleum industry executive with 29 years of
diversified experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Warkentin has worked in the oil
and gas industry in Canada, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East,
South East Asia and South America. These include Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer of Antrim Energy Inc., Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Camberly
Energy Ltd., Manager, Development of Lasmo Indonesia Limited, and
Petroleum Engineering Manager of Ultramar Oil & Gas Limited. During his tenure with
these companies Mr. Warkentin was actively involved in all aspects of international oil
and gas operations including acquisitions and divestitures, corporate development, and
the management of exploration and development operations in both offshore and onshore
international jurisdictions.
Greg J. Ford: Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Ford is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of experience in providing compliance advice and tax planning to public and private companies in numerous industries. Mr. Ford has extensive experience with large public and private multi-national companies, mid-market companies, and large, medium and small private companies. He has been involved in numerous corporate reorganization, amalgamations, wind-ups acquisitions, and divestitures. Mr. Ford’s previous positions include Senior Tax Manager, KPMG, Tax Consultant, BDO Dunwoody, Chartered Accountants and from 1999 to 2006 he has been a Principal with Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants. He was the Western Canada leader for tax operations advisory services practice, and Tax Leader for their Strategic Growth Market initiatives. Mr. Ford was a member of the Finance Committee for Small Explorers and Producers Association of Canada, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Allan B. Carswell: Consultant Exploration
Mr. Carswell is an experienced Explorationist with a Masters of Science Degree in Geophysics. Mr. Carswell has over 20 years of diversified experience in domestic and international oil and gas ventures. Mr. Carswell began his career with Texaco Canada Resources Ltd. in 1985 and has held a number of senior positions in public and private companies since that time. He was a founding member of High Pine Oil and Gas and Era Oil & Gas Corp. During his tenure with these companies he was directly responsible for the discovery of several significant new pools resulting in substantial gains for shareholders. Mr. Carswell has been active in international exploration and has evaluated and generated prospects in Nigeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, North Sea, Romania, UK, Columbia Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad, Australia, Vietnam and Pakistan. Mr. Carswell is a three time winner of a Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicist Scholarship, a two time holder of a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council graduate scholarship, and has authored or co-authored 15 presentations and publications.
Raymond G. Smith: Chairman of the Board, Director
Mr. Smith is a Petroleum Engineer with over 33 years experience in oil and gas exploration. Mr. Smith worked for multinational oil companies until 1993. He was President, Chairman and CEO of Rydal Energy prior to their takeover of New Cache Petroleum and continued as President and CEO until the company was sold in January 1999. Mr. Smith was also President, CEO, and Chairman of Corsair Energy in 1999 until the Company was sold in 2002. He also served as Chairman, President and CEO of Meridian Energy Corporation which was sold to True Energy Inc. in March 2005, and as Chairman of Cork Exploration Inc. Mr. Smith is a Director of True Energy Trust, Cruiser Oil & Gas Ltd., and Rolling Thunder Exploration.
Ving Y. Woo: Director
Mr. Woo is a Petroleum Engineer with thirty six years of industry experience. He graduated from the University of Calgary in 1970 with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Woo has experience in all facets of petroleum engineering with particular emphasis on reservoir engineering, economic evaluations, drilling and completions, production operations as well as optimization of oil and gas properties. Mr. Woo operated his own engineering and management consulting firm from November 1981 to April 1993. Thereafter, Mr. Woo was involved with all aspects of oil and gas management as Senior Vice President of High Bullen Resources Ltd. prior to joining New Cache Petroleum Ltd. in November 1996. Mr. Woo joined Corsair Exploration Ltd. as Vice President of Engineering in September 1999 and held that position until the company was sold in June 2002. In September 2002, Mr. Woo joined Meridian Energy Corporation as Vice President of Engineering and held that position until the company was sold in March 2005.
Michael J. Lock: Director
Mr. Lock has 27 years of experience as a negotiator, senior executive and officer for public and private companies. He commenced his career in 1980 with Canadian Superior as a Land Negotiator and moved to Murphy Oil and Gas Ltd in 1984. During his tenure with Murphy Mr. Lock had extensive involvement in the acquisition and management of Murphy’s interests in the offshore East Coast Hibernia field, Syncrude Oil Sands Project, and the offshore Terra Nova field. In 1997 Mr. Lock was appointed Vice President of Land for Stampeder Exploration Ltd. and Big Bear Exploration Ltd. Since 2000 Mr. Lock has been an investor and consultant with a number of junior companies, most recently those being Meridian Energy Corporation, Resolute Energy Inc. Mr. Lock was a founder and director of Era Oil and Gas Corp., a successful private oil and gas exploration company which was sold in 2005 and is currently involved in a consulting capacity with Oilexco Inc..
J.G. (Jeff) Lawson: Director
Mr. Lawson was a Partner of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP a Canadian law firm with offices in Calgary, Alberta, until September 30, 2007,where his practice was focused on merger and acquisition activities and corporate finance. Mr. Lawson was also a member of the Executive Committee of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP and serves on the board of directors of a number of public issuers and charitable organizations. He has been active on various steering committees providing advice to Canadian stock exchanges and securities commissions, mainly is connection with emerging issues relating to public issuers. Mr. Lawson has significant international experience having been directly involved in ventures in Yemen, Egypt, China, Argentina, Peru, Cambodia and Europe. Mr. Lawson has twice received the prestigious honor of being in the "Top 40 Lawyers Under Age 40" for all of Canada. Effective October 1, 2007, Mr. Lawson has assumed the role of Managing Director and Head of Calgary Investment Banking with Blackmont Capital Inc.
James K. Wilson: Director
Mr. Wilson is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of financial management
experience in domestic and international markets. Mr. Wilson has provided strategic
planning, tax and audit advice in senior management capacities in the private and public
oil and gas sectors, including extensive involvement in international operations in South
America and Africa. He has been involved in numerous corporate reorganizations,
amalgamations and wind-ups, including the tax and fiscal planning strategies for foreign
acquisitions and divestitures. Mr. Wilson is currently the Vice President, Finance &
Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary for a private oil and gas company, and
serves on the Board of Directors of Ironhorse Oil & Gas Inc. and Rock Energy Inc. In
addition to his appointment to the Board of Directors of Madalena, Mr. Wilson will
assume the role of Chairman of the Audit Committee.
